Nothing can dampen the mood of a great barbeque like having to say “no thanks” to dessert, so instead of depriving your sweet tooth, satisfy it with these delicious grilled fruit kebabs. Along with saving calories by opting out of other desserts offered, you’ll be getting a substantial dose of Vitamins A and C as well as fiber from the colorful combination of in- season fruits. Apricots and peaches have been shown to be beneficial for heart health and vision, while the strawberries and plums are antioxidants that can help improve your immune system. How many slices of cake can do all of that for your body?????

….Nada! Bonus, the bright colored fruits look gorg on the skewer. Your dessert isn’t only the best for you, but makes you look like chef extraordinaire. Impress everyone with this simple recipe.

Ingredients:

  • 8 large strawberries
  • 1 peach, quartered
  • 2 apricots, halved
  • 1 plum, quartered
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • 4 bamboo skewers

Directions:

  1. Soak Skewers in cold water for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat a grill pan on medium-high heat. Brush with Canola oil.
  3. Thread the fruit on the skewers beginning with a strawberry, then a quarter of a peach, half an apricot, a quarter of a plum, and topped with a strawberry. Repeat for three remaining skewers.
  4. Grill the kebabs, turning once, until lightly browned and softened, about 5 minutes
