Summer is officially in full swing and so is HBO’s Sunday night programming. Just like the weather, as we move from week 3 to week 4 of True Blood, things are starting to heat up. Vampire-ophile’s can’t get enough of the steamy action and between Eric Northman, Jason Stackhouse, Bill Compton and Alcide getting angry at Sookie last week, we sure can’t either! That’s why this week we’re paying homage to True Blood by whipping up a batch of Vampire Killer Fries—i.e. Garlic Fries. Have no fear because unlike other fries these Frenchies are baked not fried, so yes, consumption will not ruin your kick ass Jessica or Pam figure you’ve been working on. Save more calories because these fries pack in so much flavor, you won’t even need ketchup. They might not be just quite as addictive as a vile of V but the smell alone will have you drooling for more.

Ingredients:

  • 2 Russet Potatoes, cleaned and peeled (your choice), cut into ¼ inch sticks
  • 4 Tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 4 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • pinch salt

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
  2. Combine the cut potato sticks with 3 tablespoons of olive oil, until nicely coated.
  3. Put the potatoes on two baking sheets (more room means more crisp!) and bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Flip fries over and put them back in the oven for 15-20 more minutes, until crisp on the outside and cooked on the inside.
  5. While the fries are baking, combine the rest of the oil with garlic and sautee for a few minutes until you can smell the fragrance of the garlic and it begins to brown (should be no more than 3-4 minutes).
  6. Plate your fries and top with a pinch of salt and a drizzle of the garlic mixture to really go in for the kill!
